Privacy notice for the BOSS Squad Money Adventures Workbook
This notice covers this interactive workbook app only. It is written for parents and guardians, because the workbook is designed for children ages 8-12 and we follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
The short version
A grown-up's email address and a one-time $20 payment are required to unlock the workbook - there is no free or no-account way to use it. Once it's unlocked, what a child types - their display name, goal, and Earn / Save / Spend / Donate entries - is saved to that grown-up's account so progress isn't lost between devices. We never sell or share it, and a grown-up can delete all of it at any time.
What we collect
- Purchase email (grown-up). To buy the workbook, our payment processor collects the grown-up's email and payment details. We store the email, because it is how workbook access and saved progress are tied to the account. We never see or store card numbers.
- Child display name. The name typed into the "Your Name" field, used only to say hello and to print the BOSS Certificate. A first name or nickname is all we ask for.
- Workbook content. Goal name and dollar target, money move entries with amounts, notes and dates, activity and discussion answers, bonus sheet answers, and completed goal records.
We do not ask children for an email address, phone number, address, photo, birthday, or any contact information, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we collect it
Only to run the workbook: to give the buyer access on any device they sign in on, to let a child pick their workbook back up where they left off, and to print their certificate. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any other purpose.
Parental consent happens at checkout
The workbook can only be unlocked by a grown-up, who provides their own email address and payment at checkout. By completing that purchase, the parent or guardian consents to the collection described here - the child's display name, goal, and money-move entries, saved to their account so progress isn't lost. Nothing a child types is stored on our servers before that purchase, because the workbook can't be used at all until then. A parent can delete everything stored at any time from the Grown-up settings screen.
Who we share it with
Nobody. We never sell, rent, trade or share children's information with third parties. The only outside services involved are our payment processor (for the grown-up's purchase), our email provider (to deliver receipts and sign-in links), and our hosting/database provider, which process data solely on our instructions to run this app.
How long we keep it
Workbook data is kept while the account exists, so progress is always there when your child comes back - even months later. You can delete it yourself at any time from the Grown-up settings screen, or by emailing us. Purchase records are kept as long as needed to honor lifetime access and for tax/accounting records.
Your rights as a parent or guardian
You can at any time:
- Review a copy of everything stored for your account.
- Delete it yourself with the Delete my data button on the Grown-up settings screen.
- Withdraw consent, which stops any further collection and ends access.
You can also email us at privacy@financial-boss.org to request a copy or deletion, and we will respond promptly.
Security
Saved data is stored with per-account access rules so an account's data is only reachable by that signed-in account and our server code. Sign-in uses one-time email links, so there is no password to leak.
Changes and contact
If we ever change what we collect or how we use it, we will get new parental consent before that change applies to existing data. Questions: privacy@financial-boss.org.
